In a strategic move to enhance Pakistan’s cricketing infrastructure, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled plans to take control of Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium. The ambitious initiative, discussed during the Board of Governors’ 74th meeting, aims to upgrade the venue to international standards, paving the way for its return as a host for international cricket matches after a prolonged period.
The announcement comes on the heels of the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup, which has seen action at the Iqbal Stadium. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been lauded for his efforts in securing key partnerships for the tournament, which features some of Pakistan’s top cricketers. The board’s discussions also touched on critical infrastructure projects in anticipation of next year’s ICC Champions Trophy.
Chairman Naqvi expressed his optimism for the participating teams and emphasized the tournament’s role in strengthening domestic cricket. He also hinted at the possibility of expanding such tournaments to other cities, with the goal of delivering high-caliber cricket experiences to fans across the nation.
