Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam received a special gift from team owner Javed Afridi following his sensational performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 match against Islamabad United. After Azam’s scintillating unbeaten knock of 111 runs off 63 balls, which included 14 fours and two sixes, Afridi presented him with the first locally assembled MG HS Essence.
Azam’s incredible inning, with a strike rate of 176.19, was pivotal in Zalmi’s total of 201 against Islamabad United. Despite a spirited effort from United, led by Shadab Khan, spinner Arif Yaqoob’s four-wicket haul in the 19th over secured Zalmi’s victory by eight runs. Yaqoob finished with figures of five for 27 in his four overs, but it was Azam who was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match for his match-winning century.
Known for his love of cars, Azam boasts an impressive collection, including the Audi A5, believed to be his favorite, and the BJ40 Plus, which he won in a series between Pakistan and Australia. Fans have also spotted him in a Hyundai Sonata, notably during a ceremony of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The presentation of the MG HS Essence by Afridi adds another milestone to Azam’s career, both on and off the cricket field. As the PSL 9 continues to captivate cricket fans, Azam’s remarkable talent with the bat and his growing collection of luxury vehicles are sure to keep fans excited for more.
