In a bid to ease the financial burden on Pakistani citizens during the winter season, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a three-month electricity relief package. The package, which will be effective from December through February, is aimed at providing substantial relief to domestic consumers facing high electricity bills.
The government’s initiative includes a reduction in electricity tariffs for consumers, with special attention given to low-income households. The relief package will also include deferred payment options and a freeze on any new tariff hikes for the duration of the three months. The Prime Minister emphasized that the relief package is part of the government’s commitment to supporting the common people and managing energy costs effectively during the colder months.
“By taking these measures, we aim to reduce the financial stress on Pakistani families, especially during the winter when energy consumption tends to increase,” said PM Shehbaz in a statement.
The relief will benefit millions of households across the country, with the government urging consumers to take advantage of the package to manage their electricity usage efficiently. Energy officials have also been tasked with ensuring smooth implementation and monitoring of the package’s impact.
