ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday officially declared May 10 as Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq (Day of the Battle for Truth) to be observed annually across Pakistan.
Addressing a special cabinet session, the Prime Minister stated that the day marks a symbolic stand against falsehood, disinformation, and divisiveness. “This is not just a day; it is a declaration of our national resolve to uphold truth, unity, and justice,” said PM Shehbaz.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the decision to mark this day annually stems from the government’s vision to foster national cohesion and moral clarity among citizens, especially the youth. He added that educational institutions, media, and civil society will be encouraged to hold events that promote truth, integrity, and critical thinking.
A government notification has been issued to include May 10 as an official day of observance, with public institutions expected to organize seminars, public discussions, and awareness campaigns nationwide.
Political analysts view this as a symbolic move by the government to reinforce the value of truth in an era marked by misinformation and political polarization.
More details regarding the official programs for Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq will be announced in the coming days by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
