Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially announced the formation of the National Youth Council (NYC), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering the youth of Pakistan. The council will serve as a platform to harness the energy, ideas, and talents of young people to address pressing national issues and contribute to the country’s development.
Speaking at the launch ceremony held in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz highlighted the pivotal role of the youth in shaping Pakistan’s future. He said, “Pakistan’s young generation is the backbone of our country, and this council will ensure that their voices are heard in policymaking.”
The NYC will include a diverse group of young individuals from various provinces, ensuring representation of all regions, ethnicities, and sectors. Members will be selected based on their achievements in fields such as education, entrepreneurship, arts, sports, and social activism.
The council’s primary objectives include:
- Identifying challenges faced by the youth and proposing solutions.
- Promoting entrepreneurship and skill development programs.
- Advocating for mental health awareness and youth well-being.
- Facilitating exchange programs and scholarships for higher education.
The initiative has been widely praised by educationists, social activists, and political analysts. They view it as a step towards meaningful engagement of Pakistan’s youth in the national decision-making process.
The first meeting of the National Youth Council is scheduled to take place next month, where members will outline their priorities and begin drafting a roadmap for the council’s activities.
