Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited a struggling Pakistani football star, who was recently forced to sell jalebis due to financial hardships, to the Prime Minister’s House. The heart-wrenching story of the player, whose talent once shone on the field, went viral on social media, prompting the premier to take notice.
The footballer, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, reportedly represented Pakistan in several international tournaments but was left without financial support. With no backing from sports authorities, he had to resort to selling sweets to make ends meet.
PM Shehbaz, expressing concern over the condition of national athletes, assured full support and vowed to improve the state of football in Pakistan. He emphasized the need for better financial assistance for players and called for immediate reforms in the sports sector.
“This is unacceptable. Our sports heroes should be given the respect and support they deserve. We will take all necessary steps to ensure that no athlete is left behind,” said the prime minister.
The invitation to the PM House has been widely praised, with fans and former players urging the government to take sustainable steps to uplift football in the country.
