DERA ISMAIL KHAN – In a significant crackdown on illicit activities, the Dera Ismail Khan police seized non-custom paid (NCP) items valued at over Rs14 million on Sunday. The operation, conducted by the Darazinda police station, involved the inspection of vehicles, resulting in the discovery of 439 sacks of chalia (betel nut), 43 sacks of Chinese salt, and 24 bundles of tyres. The confiscated items were promptly handed over to customs authorities to initiate legal proceedings against the alleged smugglers.
Simultaneously, law enforcement authorities made multiple arrests, apprehending nine individuals involved in various criminal activities. The Cantonment police arrested Mohammad Ayub, confiscating 370 grams of the potent drug ice from him.
In a separate action, the Yarik police arrested four outlaws, including Qismat Khan, found in possession of 390 grams of hashish, Shaukat Ali with 130 grams of ice drug, Azharuddin with 350 grams of ice drug and 300 grams of hashish, and Noor Akbar, who was carrying an illegal pistol along with five cartridges.
Similarly, the Shaheed Nawab Khan police apprehended Kaleemullah, recovering 149 grams of the drug ice from his possession.
In a parallel operation, the police raided the residence of an absconder, Karmanullah, in an attempt to arrest him. Although the accused was not present, the authorities seized a rifle and 50 cartridges from the location.
The concerted efforts of the Dera Ismail Khan police underscore their commitment to curbing illegal activities and maintaining law and order in the region. The seized items and apprehended individuals have been handed over to the respective authorities for further legal proceedings.
