Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Najmi Alam has written a letter to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Deputy Commissioner South Karachi, recommending the closure of tea hotels in the Defence and Clifton areas by midnight.
In his letter, Alam expressed concerns that these tea hotels have become hotspots for criminal activities, including alleged drug dealing, particularly in Clifton Block 2. He urged authorities to take immediate action, citing growing distress among residents over loud music and late-night gatherings.
The PPP leader has also suggested setting fixed operating hours for these establishments to curb the rising complaints. A copy of the letter has been forwarded to the CM Sindh and the Commissioner Karachi for further consideration.
The matter is expected to spark debate among business owners and residents, as tea hotels have become a popular late-night social hub in Karachi.
