In a prestigious ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday, President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (military) upon General Li Qiaoming, the Commander of the Ground Forces of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The award was presented in recognition of General Li’s distinguished services and substantial contributions to enhancing Sino-Pak defence relations.
The investiture ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, senior service chiefs, diplomats, and parliamentarians. The citation at the event lauded General Li for his exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, and professional excellence.
Throughout his more than forty-year career, General Li has demonstrated remarkable diligence, determination, and effectiveness, earning widespread admiration for his steadfast loyalty and exemplary leadership. His efforts have significantly advanced the Chinese military and inspired others to achieve high standards of accomplishment.
On Monday, General Li praised Pakistan’s efforts in combating terrorism and extremism during a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The army chief highlighted the robust military relations between Pakistan and China, emphasizing the ongoing bilateral cooperation as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also warmly welcomed General Li, reaffirming the strong All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and friendship between Pakistan and China.
