Islamabad, November 6, 2025: The Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been elected as the head of the South Asian Telecom Regulators’ Council (SATRC), marking a significant achievement for Pakistan in the regional telecommunications landscape.
The election took place during the SATRC annual meeting, attended by member states of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT), where representatives unanimously supported Pakistan’s nomination.
As head of the council, the PTA chairman will lead initiatives focused on enhancing regional cooperation, harmonizing telecom regulations, and promoting digital transformation across South Asia.
In his remarks, the newly elected chair expressed gratitude for the confidence shown by member nations, pledging to foster collaboration in emerging technologies, cybersecurity, and cross-border connectivity.
Experts say Pakistan’s leadership role at SATRC reflects its growing influence in digital policy and commitment to advancing telecommunications infrastructure in the region.
