Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has canceled its planned protest in Islamabad due to the recent arrests of several senior party leaders. The protest, which was set to take place to highlight the party’s grievances, was called off as a result of the escalating crackdown on PTI leadership.
In a statement issued on Monday, PTI officials explained that the arrests of key figures within the party have disrupted their ability to hold the protest. They also expressed concerns about the safety of party supporters in light of the current political tensions.
“Given the ongoing arrests and the political environment, it has become increasingly difficult to proceed with the protest as planned,” the statement read.
The cancellation has led to disappointment among PTI supporters, many of whom had gathered in anticipation of the demonstration. The party has not yet announced a new date for the protest, as it continues to assess its next steps.
