In a proactive move to safeguard students from the blistering heatwave sweeping across Punjab, the provincial education ministry has taken the decision to initiate early summer vacations starting from May 22.
The announcement came following a notable response on social media, where the Education Minister, prompted by public concern, made the decision official. Over 7,000 social media users engaged with the minister’s post, with a staggering 96% of parents advocating for immediate school closures due to the scorching temperatures.
As per the directive, schools will be permitted to resume operations solely for the purpose of conducting exams. However, the overarching priority remains the safety and well-being of students and staff.
An official notification regarding these accelerated holidays is anticipated to be issued imminently, either today (Monday) or tomorrow (Tuesday), providing clarity and guidance to educational institutions and families across the province.
