Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan to initiate an e-taxi service across the province, inspired by China’s efficient taxi system.
The Punjab Transport Department is actively working to turn this vision into reality, with initial discussions held with several electric vehicle manufacturers. Companies such as the Deewan Group and the National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) have already expressed keen interest in collaborating on the project.
The e-taxi service will operate 24/7 in all major cities of Punjab, with the first phase focusing on Lahore and other divisional headquarters.
The initiative aims to offer citizens affordable and sustainable transportation options while contributing to environmental conservation. However, it may lead to a slight reduction in traditional employment opportunities within the transport sector.
Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking project set to transform Punjab’s transport landscape.
