Punjab has eased its anti-smog measures after air quality in major cities, including Lahore, showed significant improvement. The decision, made by the provincial government, comes as the Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped from hazardous levels to moderate. In recent weeks, Punjab had implemented strict measures, including vehicle restrictions, suspension of construction activities, and increased monitoring of industrial emissions, to curb the worsening smog crisis.
With the AQI improving, the government has decided to gradually lift some of these restrictions while continuing efforts to monitor and control pollution. Local authorities are optimistic that the reduction in smog is linked to cleaner industrial practices, reduced vehicular emissions, and better management of crop burning.
Despite the positive trends, experts warn that continued vigilance is necessary as seasonal changes could still contribute to fluctuating air quality. Authorities are urging residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions during high pollution days.
