Punjab has unveiled its latest step toward eco-friendly public transportation by launching 27 electric buses in Lahore, aiming to reduce pollution and improve daily commuting for thousands of residents. These electric buses will serve approximately 17,000 commuters daily, offering a cleaner, more efficient alternative to traditional public transport.
The initiative, launched by the Punjab government, is part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable transport and address the growing air pollution in Lahore. With a fleet of modern electric buses, the government hopes to reduce traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions, and provide a more comfortable and affordable option for daily travelers.
The buses will operate across key routes in the city, providing convenient and accessible service to both residents and tourists. The move is expected to create jobs, boost the local economy, and align with Pakistan’s commitment to a greener future.
The launch is also a part of Punjab’s vision to transition toward cleaner energy, with plans for more electric vehicles (EVs) in the future. Local authorities have promised to continue enhancing the public transportation system, ensuring it caters to the needs of Lahore’s rapidly growing population.
This major step is being hailed as a milestone in the province’s commitment to sustainability and urban development, with hopes of further expanding the electric bus network in the coming months.
