In a significant move towards sustainable energy, Punjab’s police force is set to become a leader in renewable energy adoption. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has unveiled a landmark initiative to install solar power systems at all 737 police stations across the province, including those in Lahore.
The ambitious project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will see solar systems installed at 350 police stations, with 40 of these locations situated in Lahore. The second phase, scheduled for the next fiscal year, will extend the solar coverage to the remaining 375 stations.
Each station will be equipped with a 3-kilowatt solar power system and accompanying batteries, marking a significant step forward in Punjab’s commitment to renewable energy and environmental sustainability. This initiative is expected to reduce the energy costs for the police stations and enhance their operational efficiency.
