Lahore, August 15, 2024 — In preparation for the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) on August 27, the Punjab Home Department has formally requested the federal government to partially suspend mobile services across ten districts. The request aims to bolster security and maintain public order during the significant religious observance.
According to a letter sent by the Punjab Home Department to the federal authorities, the suspension is recommended for areas where large processions and gatherings are anticipated. The mobile service suspension will be in effect from 5 AM to 11 PM on the day of the commemoration.
The ten districts affected by this measure are:
- Rawalpindi
- Jhang
- Layyah
- Sargodha
- Bhakkar
- Mianwali
- Gujrat
- Gujranwala
- Chakwal
- Toba Tek Singh
Residents in these districts will experience restricted mobile connectivity during the specified hours. However, mobile services will remain fully operational in all other districts of Punjab, including the provincial capital, Lahore.
The decision to partially suspend mobile services is a precautionary measure designed to ensure the safety and security of participants and maintain peace during the Chehlum processions and events. The Punjab Home Department is coordinating with law enforcement agencies to ensure a smooth and secure observance of this important occasio
