Doha/Islamabad — September 29, 2025
Qatar has announced that Pakistani citizens will now be eligible for a visa on arrival, a move aimed at strengthening travel and business ties between the two countries. The decision has been welcomed by travelers and expatriates, particularly as Qatar remains a key destination for Pakistani workers and tourists.
According to the Qatari authorities, Pakistani nationals can obtain a 30-day visa on arrival, which is extendable once for an additional 30 days. However, certain conditions must be fulfilled to qualify:
Requirements for Visa on Arrival:
-
A valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity.
-
A confirmed return ticket.
-
Proof of hotel booking or accommodation details.
-
A valid credit or debit card in the traveler’s own name.
-
Travelers must be fully vaccinated with a WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine (if health requirements apply).
-
Visitors should have no security restrictions or prior immigration violations in Qatar.
The visa-on-arrival facility is expected to facilitate easier travel for Pakistani tourists, businesspersons, and those transiting through Doha’s Hamad International Airport.
Pakistan is among a select group of countries to receive this facility, reflecting the close diplomatic and economic ties between Doha and Islamabad. Officials also said the step is part of Qatar’s efforts to boost tourism and expand its hospitality sector following the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Travel experts have advised applicants to carefully check the latest requirements from the Qatar Ministry of Interior’s website or airlines before traveling, as rules may be updated.
