Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani called on the United Nations Security Council to compel Israel to return to the negotiating table regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The Emir’s plea came on Tuesday during the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit held in Doha.

Expressing deep concern over the prolonged conflict, Sheikh Tamim denounced the international community’s inaction, labeling it “shameful” to permit what he described as a “heinous crime” to persist for nearly two months. He emphasized the alarming trend of systematic and deliberate killings of innocent civilians, with a particular focus on the plight of women and children in the region.

“It is heartbreaking to witness the continuous violation of all human values in Gaza,” stated Sheikh Tamim during the GCC meeting. The Emir’s impassioned remarks underscored the urgency of addressing the humanitarian crisis and bringing an end to the protracted conflict.

Qatar’s strong condemnation of Israel’s actions and its call for UN Security Council involvement add to the growing international pressure on both parties to resume diplomatic negotiations. The Emir’s statement reflects the broader sentiment within the Gulf Cooperation Council, signaling a unified stance against the ongoing violence and advocating for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
