QUETTA, July 13 (APP): Balochistan’s Home Minister Meer Zia ullah Langau announced today that internet and cellphone services will be turned off in Quetta on Muharram 7 and 10 from 6 am to 12 midnight. This is to make sure things stay peaceful during Muharram, a special time for Shia Muslims.
In seven districts, including Quetta, a rule called Section 144 will stop big gatherings to improve security. This rule will be in place as people gather for Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram.
“Muharram began on July 8 with the sighting of the moon in Pakistan,” Minister Langau said while checking security plans. “We have 8,000 security people ready in Quetta, and the Army has five Quick Response Force groups ready too.”
To keep things safe, there will also be no riding motorcycles together, and more security will be in other important districts like Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad, and Usta Muhammad. “Our main job is to keep peace,” Minister Langau said, adding that all plans for Muharram were finished.
Also, the government said the Army and other armed forces would be around the country during Muharram. The government is still talking about how long they will stay.
As the country gets ready for Muharram, leaders are watching closely to make sure nothing bad happens during this important time.
