Karachi, Pakistan – After weeks of hot and humid weather, rain showers returned to Karachi on Sunday, bringing relief to residents in multiple parts of the city. Different areas including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, Saddar, and Clifton witnessed light to heavy downpours.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the rain is expected to continue intermittently in the coming hours, accompanied by strong winds in some areas. While the showers have helped cool down temperatures, they also triggered concerns of waterlogging and traffic jams in low-lying localities.
City authorities have instructed drainage teams and emergency services to remain on alert to deal with potential urban flooding. Residents, however, welcomed the change in weather, calling it a much-needed break from the prolonged heatwave.
