Rawalpindi’s railway stations witnessed a massive influx of passengers today as major roads leading into the city were closed due to ongoing security operations and inclement weather. With no way to travel by road, thousands of commuters rushed to the railway stations in search of alternative transport.
The sudden surge in foot traffic led to overcrowding, with long lines at ticket counters and platforms. Authorities were seen managing the crowd, but delays in train schedules caused frustration among passengers, many of whom were attempting to get to Islamabad or other nearby destinations.
Railway officials stated that while all trains continued to operate, there were minor delays due to the high number of passengers. “We are doing everything we can to manage the situation, but the unexpected increase in passengers has posed a challenge,” said a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways.
The closure of roads has disrupted normal transportation, and many commuters were left with no choice but to opt for the railways. The situation is expected to remain tense until the roads reopen, with local authorities urging the public to exercise patience.
