Syed Furqan Haider, the renowned stage play director best known for his production of the iconic play Bakra Qiston Pe, has passed away following a prolonged battle with kidney disease. Haider, who was an influential figure in the Pakistani entertainment industry, died in Dallas, Texas, where he had been residing for some time.
Throughout his illustrious career spanning over five decades, Haider produced more than 250 stage plays, making significant contributions to Pakistani theater. His work, which included celebrated productions such as Musibbat Dar Musibbat, Bachao Moin Akhtar, and Bakra Qiston Par, gained international acclaim for their unique storytelling and engaging performances.
Despite his long-standing illness, Haider remained actively involved in the industry, with his latest stage play Dulha Online being performed in the United States at the time of his passing.
Haider’s versatility as a director extended across multiple languages, including Urdu, Punjabi, and Memoni, making his work accessible to a broad audience. His dedication to the craft and his influence on the theater community will not be forgotten.
He was also the brother of television actor Ibrahim Nafees.
Syed Furqan Haider’s funeral will be held today in Dallas, with his burial taking place at a local Muslim cemetery. His death marks the end of an era in the world of Pakistani theater, and he will be remembered for his invaluable contributions to the arts.
