Riyadh: In a major step toward enhancing safety and crowd management, Saudi Arabia has announced the rollout of smart E-bracelets and the installation of 1,000 new surveillance cameras for pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj.
According to officials, the new digital system is designed to provide real-time monitoring, pilgrim identification, and emergency response support. The E-bracelets will store essential data including personal information, medical history, and group details, enabling faster assistance in case of emergencies or lost pilgrims.
The additional 1,000 high-tech cameras will be installed across Makkah, Madinah, and key ritual sites, improving crowd control and helping authorities respond immediately to any safety concerns.
Saudi authorities say the initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize the Hajj experience using advanced technology, ensuring smoother movement for millions of worshippers expected to arrive in 2026.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah highlighted that these steps aim to prevent overcrowding-related incidents and provide a more secure, well-organized pilgrimage environment.
With millions expected for Hajj each year, the new system represents one of the most significant technological upgrades to pilgrimage management in recent years.
