Saudi Arabia’s Haramain High-Speed Railway has set a new record by transporting 48,000 passengers in a single day, marking a significant milestone in the kingdom’s advanced rail infrastructure.
The high-speed train, which connects the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah via Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic City, has become an essential mode of transport for pilgrims and residents alike. The surge in ridership reflects the growing demand for fast and efficient travel, particularly among Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
Operated by the Saudi Railway Company (SAR), the Haramain train service has consistently expanded its operations, offering state-of-the-art facilities, high-speed travel reaching up to 300 km/h, and improved scheduling to accommodate increasing passenger traffic.
Officials attribute the record-breaking figures to enhanced services, increased train frequencies, and the upcoming Ramadan season, which sees a spike in pilgrim movement. The railway continues to play a crucial role in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aimed at modernizing the country’s transport sector and boosting tourism.
With its latest achievement, the Haramain High-Speed Railway reaffirms its status as one of the world’s most efficient and widely used high-speed rail networks.
