In a precautionary move to ensure the security and safety of citizens during the Chehlum procession, all public and private educational institutions, including universities, colleges, and schools situated within the municipal limits of Rawalpindi tehsil, will remain closed today. This announcement was made by Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema, who issued an official notification detailing the temporary closure of these educational facilities. However, it is important to note that this decree does not apply to educational institutions within the boundaries of the cantonment.
Additionally, as part of the security measures for Chehlum, cell phone services will be temporarily suspended in areas located within 1,000 meters of the procession route. The main Chehlum procession in Rawalpindi is scheduled to commence at the Teeli Mohallah Imambargah at 11 am and will conclude at the old Imambargah later in the evening.
To ensure the safety and security of all participants and attendees during the Chehlum procession, the Rawalpindi police department has deployed over 4,000 police personnel and 250 traffic wardens. A dedicated control room has been established to oversee and coordinate the security plan.
Citizens are advised to exercise caution and cooperate with law enforcement personnel to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Chehlum observation in Rawalpindi.
