Pakistan continues to shine in global fruit production as it records an impressive 1.8 million tons of mangoes annually, making mango the second most-produced fruit in the country.
According to official data released by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, mangoes — often hailed as the “king of fruits” — are not only a national favorite but also a significant contributor to Pakistan’s agricultural economy.
Punjab and Sindh remain the top mango-producing regions, with Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Mirpurkhas leading the way. The country exports mangoes to over 30 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and China, earning millions in foreign exchange each year.
Experts highlight that despite challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, and outdated farming practices, Pakistan’s mango industry holds strong potential for growth. With better infrastructure and export facilities, Pakistan could significantly expand its global market share.
The mango season, which typically runs from May to August, sees a boom in both domestic consumption and international demand. From Sindhri to Chaunsa, Pakistani mangoes are praised worldwide for their unique taste, aroma, and juiciness.
