Kulachi, District Dera Ismail Khan – In a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO), security forces in Pakistan eliminated one terrorist and injured another during a fierce firefight in the Kulachi area of District Dera Ismail Khan. The operation, carried out on Wednesday, was confirmed by a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the ISPR statement, the encounter between the troops and militants escalated into an intense exchange of gunfire, resulting in the neutralization of one terrorist. The slain terrorist was found in possession of weapons and ammunition, and the ISPR noted that he had been actively involved in various terrorist activities, including attacks on security forces and innocent civilians.
The ISPR also reported that ongoing efforts to sanitize the area are in progress to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the vicinity.
Local residents of the area have expressed their appreciation for the operation, underscoring the importance of maintaining security and peace in the region.
This successful operation comes on the heels of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir’s recent remarks highlighting Pakistan’s role as a bulwark against terrorism. During a meeting with a group of 38 students from Harvard University representing nine different countries, Gen. Munir discussed regional security issues and Pakistan Army’s contributions to promoting peace and stability in the region. He also emphasized Pakistan’s potential and urged the students to base their perception of the country on their experiences during their stay.
Gen. Munir drew attention to the human suffering and atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and efforts to alter demographic realities. The students appreciated the COAS for facilitating a constructive interaction.
In a statement issued earlier this month commemorating Defence and Martyrs’ Day, Gen. Asim Munir stressed the importance of a strong economy for invincible defense and condemned attempts to undermine the strong bond between the military and the people, affirming that the Pakistan Army remains a national institution committed to the country’s security and prosperity.
Pakistan continues to take firm measures to counter terrorism while emphasizing its role as a responsible actor in regional and international security efforts.
