Islamabad, September 10, 2024 — Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani has imposed a two-day suspension on PTI Senator Falak Naz Chitrali following her use of inappropriate language towards Senator Faisal Vawda. The suspension came after a heated exchange between the two senators during a recent session.
The altercation began when Vawda criticized PTI’s stance on amendments to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) laws, suggesting that the party was now seeking negotiations with the army. Chitrali’s response, which involved offensive remarks directed at Vawda, escalated the situation.
Vawda had initially demanded Chitrali’s arrest, but Gilani chose to address the matter with a suspension instead. Gilani has warned that if Chitrali does not issue a formal apology, further disciplinary actions may follow.
The Senate session has been adjourned until September 12. The incident highlights ongoing tensions within the Senate and underscores the importance of maintaining respectful communication among lawmakers.
