Dense fog blanketing various parts of Pakistan has led to significant delays in train services, impacting travelers across the country. The Pakistan Railways has reported delays ranging from two to six hours for several major trains, including those operating on the Lahore-Karachi and Rawalpindi-Multan routes.
Passengers stranded at railway stations expressed frustration over the lack of timely updates and facilities during the delays. A passenger at Lahore Railway Station said, “We have been waiting for hours without any proper information or arrangements.”
The dense fog, a recurring phenomenon during winter, has reduced visibility to dangerously low levels, making it challenging for trains to operate on schedule. Railways officials have emphasized safety precautions, including operating trains at reduced speeds to prevent accidents.
Meteorological experts forecast that the foggy conditions are expected to persist in the coming days, particularly in Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, due to a combination of low temperatures and high humidity. Travelers are advised to confirm train schedules and prepare for potential delays.
Efforts are underway by Pakistan Railways to improve communication and provide better facilities for passengers during such disruptions. Authorities are also considering deploying advanced fog-monitoring equipment to minimize future delays.
