ISLAMABAD – 16 October 2025:
Pakistan today observed the 74th death anniversary of Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan, the country’s first Prime Minister, with deep respect and national pride.
Special ceremonies were held in Islamabad, Karachi, and Liaquatpur, where political leaders, scholars, and citizens paid glowing tributes to his services for Pakistan’s independence and early governance.
In his message, the President of Pakistan lauded Liaquat Ali Khan’s unwavering commitment to democracy, unity, and development, describing him as a “true patriot whose vision continues to guide the nation.”
Liaquat Ali Khan, a close companion of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, played a key role in shaping Pakistan’s political and economic framework. He was martyred on October 16, 1951, during a public meeting at Company Bagh, Rawalpindi — now renamed Liaquat Bagh in his honor.
The day was marked by Qur’an recitations, documentaries, and seminars highlighting his contributions to Pakistan’s founding years and his enduring legacy as Shaheed-e-Millat (Martyr of the Nation).
