Shenzhen Bay Park became the center of global attention with a mesmerizing drone show under the theme “City of Sky, Maybe Shenzhen,” where 10,197 drones took to the skies, creating a breathtaking visual spectacle. This impressive event set two new Guinness World Records: “The most multirotor/drones airborne simultaneously from a single computer (outdoors)” and “The largest aerial image formed by multirotors/drones.”
The highlight of the night was the formation of a floating “Sky City,” a dazzling moment that captivated spectators. Iconic elements of Shenzhen were interspersed throughout the light show, with intricate representations of landmarks, light displays, and scenes from Wing Chun, symbolizing the city’s bright future.
After the drone display, the sky lit up with “cyber fireworks,” painting Shenzhen as a “City of Miracles, City of Innovation, City of the Future.” The event continues for seven nights during China’s National Day holiday, with over 10,000 drones lighting up five districts across the city each evening.
Even tech visionary Elon Musk praised the show, highlighting China’s leadership in drone technology. Just weeks earlier, China set another world record with a 7,598-drone display over the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, celebrating its 72nd anniversary. The Shenzhen show, controlled via a single laptop, marked a new era in aerial display technology with stunning precision and imagery, including a tiger formation that lasted 37 seconds.
This groundbreaking event underscores Shenzhen’s growing role as a hub of innovation and technological advancement, showcasing China’s expanding influence in emerging technologies.
