Former PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat has stated that he would step down from his National Assembly seat if instructed by the party’s founder, Imran Khan.
Speaking on Aaj TV’s News Insight with Amir Zia, Marwat admitted to making a mistake by standing and waving during the Swabi rally, an action he believes was seen as a breach of party discipline.
Marwat alleged that certain individuals were influencing Imran Khan’s decisions based on personal preferences rather than party interests. He criticized the appointment of Salman Akram Raja as PTI’s Secretary General, claiming it was driven by favoritism rather than merit. He pointed out that Raja joined PTI only eight months ago and had yet to organize a single rally in Punjab.
Expressing frustration over his treatment within the party, Marwat claimed he was sidelined and not even allowed to speak at the Swabi rally, calling it an unethical move. He further alleged that a targeted campaign was being run against him within PTI, including derogatory remarks and accusations. According to him, the PTI media team had resorted to personal attacks, while certain party leaders were manipulating decisions for their own gain.
Marwat also commented on Imran Khan’s imprisonment, asserting that scripted narratives were being fed into Khan’s ears by those seeking to exploit their proximity to him. He warned that if the truth were revealed, party workers would turn their backs on the current leadership.
Despite his grievances, Marwat reaffirmed his loyalty to Imran Khan and PTI’s ideology, stating that his mission was to free the party founder from the influence of what he described as a “land mafia.”
