The Sindh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, has announced a major new initiative aimed at bolstering the city’s renewable energy capacity. In its recent meeting, the provincial cabinet approved plans to set up a new solar park in Karachi.
This forthcoming solar park is part of a broader strategy to address the region’s energy demands while advancing sustainable energy solutions. The project will significantly contribute to reducing Karachi’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources and will play a pivotal role in the city’s energy infrastructure.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon detailed that this initiative is aligned with Sindh’s commitment to tackling the ongoing energy crisis. He highlighted the importance of transitioning to cleaner energy sources and the potential benefits this solar park will bring in terms of energy reliability and environmental impact.
The announcement comes alongside other key decisions, including the allocation of land for additional solar parks in Jamshoro and the central district of Sindh, as well as the establishment of the Sindh Electric Power Regulatory Authority (SEPRA). These measures collectively represent a significant investment in the province’s energy sector.
The new solar park in Karachi is expected to enhance the city’s energy resilience and contribute to Sindh’s overarching goal of achieving a more sustainable and self-reliant energy future.
