The Sindh government has announced a new initiative titled “Mera Lyari” to counter what it describes as India’s ‘Dhurandhar’ propaganda targeting Karachi, particularly the historic area of Lyari.
According to officials, the initiative is designed to highlight Lyari’s rich culture, sports legacy, music, and vibrant community life, challenging negative narratives that misrepresent the area. The government stated that Lyari has long been a hub of talent, producing renowned athletes, artists, and performers who represent the true spirit of Karachi.
Authorities said the campaign will include documentaries, digital content, cultural events, and youth-focused programs aimed at showcasing Lyari’s positive image both nationally and internationally. The move has been positioned as a response to misinformation and biased portrayals circulating on foreign media and social platforms.
Political analysts view the announcement as part of a broader effort to protect Pakistan’s narrative and promote unity, while residents of Lyari welcomed the initiative, calling it a step toward long-overdue recognition of the area’s contributions to the country.
