Karachi: The Sindh government is set to launch a Thar Desert Train Safari in February, offering tourists a unique opportunity to explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Thar Desert while experiencing traditional Sindhi culture.
According to officials, the train safari will run between Mirpurkhas and Khokhrapar, covering some of the most scenic areas of Tharparkar. The initiative, led by the Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) in collaboration with Pakistan Railways, aims to boost tourism in the region while showcasing its rich heritage.
The train will be designed in a vintage style, featuring open-roof coaches, cultural performances, and local cuisine to enhance the travel experience. Passengers will witness golden sand dunes, traditional Thari villages, and historical sites along the route.
A senior STDC official stated, “This train safari is not just a journey; it’s an experience that blends adventure with history. We want to highlight Thar’s natural beauty and cultural diversity.”
The first official ride is expected to take place in mid-February, with advance bookings opening soon. Tourists, photographers, and nature lovers can look forward to a once-in-a-lifetime desert experience on rails.
