Netflix has dropped the first teaser for the much-anticipated second season of “Squid Game,” giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come. Released on Sunday, August 11, the 30-second clip offers an intriguing preview of the new season and confirms the return of Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun, the sole survivor from Season one.
The teaser features faceless players clad in green tracksuits, with each player’s number slowly coming into view. The tension mounts until the camera reveals Gi-hun’s iconic #456 patch. He then turns to face the camera with a stoic expression, setting a dramatic tone for the upcoming season.
The visuals are dark and suspenseful, hinting at the intensity of the new season, which comes three years after Gi-hun’s victory in the original series. This time around, Gi-hun is portrayed as a more serious character, driven by a quest for revenge.
Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has previously hinted that the second season will delve into Gi-hun’s transformation and his pursuit of vengeance. The new season promises to introduce a fresh set of life-or-death challenges for Gi-hun and other participants, all competing for the staggering prize of 45.6 billion won.
“Squid Game” Season two is set to premiere on December 26, with the third and final season expected to debut in 2025.
