As the conclusion of Zaka Ashraf’s tenure at the helm of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) looms, insiders report that the identity of his successor has been unveiled. Sources close to the matter reveal that Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, is poised to join the PCB’s Board of Governors (BoG) as a nominee of the patron-in-chief.
In accordance with PCB rules, the incumbent prime minister serves as the patron. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has reportedly given his approval for Naqvi’s nomination, paving the way for the experienced politician to step into the cricketing arena.
The BoG, comprising 10 members, is anticipated to welcome Naqvi, filling the void left by Zaka Ashraf’s departure. Upon joining the BoG, Naqvi is expected to position himself for the upcoming election for the chairmanship of the PCB.
