Islamabad – The Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has launched a nationwide contest inviting the public to suggest a name for Pakistan’s first lunar rover. This marks a significant step in the country’s space exploration journey as it prepares to send its rover to the Moon in the near future.
SUPARCO officials announced that the contest is open to all Pakistanis, encouraging creative and meaningful name suggestions that reflect the nation’s scientific aspirations and cultural heritage. The winning name will be officially used for the lunar mission, and the winner will receive national recognition along with a special prize.
“This initiative aims to engage the public in Pakistan’s space program and inspire young minds to take an interest in space science and technology,” a SUPARCO spokesperson stated.
Participants can submit their entries via an online portal, with the deadline for submissions set for next month. The final name will be chosen by a panel of experts, with public voting also playing a role in the selection process.
This initiative aligns with Pakistan’s growing ambitions in space exploration, following recent advancements in satellite technology and collaborations with international space agencies.
