Islamabad: The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has predicted the expected date of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, offering an early insight into the moon sighting schedule.
According to SUPARCO’s astronomical calculations, the Shawwal moon is expected to be sighted on the evening of April 20, 2025, marking April 21 as Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan, provided clear weather conditions.
The official moon sighting, however, will be confirmed by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which follows traditional methods along with scientific assistance from SUPARCO. In recent years, Pakistan has increasingly relied on astronomical data to reduce uncertainty regarding Islamic festival dates.
Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is one of the most significant Islamic festivals, celebrated with prayers, gatherings, and festivities across the country.
The final confirmation regarding Eid’s date will come after the official moon sighting meeting, expected to be held on April 20, 2025.
