Punjab has experienced a notable increase in dengue cases, with 141 individuals testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. According to a spokesperson from the health department, the majority of these cases were reported in Rawalpindi, where 118 residents were confirmed to be infected. Other cities contributing to the recent spike include Lahore, Attock, Chakwal, Vehari, Faisalabad, Mianwali, and Sialkot.
In the past week alone, Punjab has recorded a total of 954 new dengue cases, raising concerns among health officials. Since January 1, 2024, the total number of reported dengue cases in the province has reached 5,897.
Health authorities are urging residents to take preventive measures against dengue, including eliminating stagnant water and using mosquito repellent, to help curb the spread of the virus.
