Recent social media reports have claimed that the Suzuki Alto has been banned from motorways and highways in Pakistan due to safety concerns. However, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have clarified that no such ban has been imposed, and the vehicle remains allowed on these roads.
The rumors gained traction following a tragic accident involving a Suzuki Alto and a heavy vehicle, sparking concerns about the car’s structural integrity. Some reports also suggested that the entry of smaller-engine vehicles on high-speed roads could be restricted for safety reasons.
In response, Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has denied any official ban on the Alto. However, the company is reportedly considering discontinuing the base VX variant, which lacks airbags and anti-lock braking systems (ABS), to improve safety standards.
Despite being Pakistan’s best-selling car due to its affordability and fuel efficiency, the Suzuki Alto’s safety features have been questioned, especially for high-speed travel. Authorities advise drivers to follow traffic regulations and speed limits to ensure safe travel on highways and motorways.
