During the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, authorities have been alerted to a serious threat involving the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The threat, which was communicated through an email sent to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), has sent shockwaves throughout the nation.
According to reports, the anonymous sender of the email has demanded a staggering Rs 500 crore (approximately 67 million USD) and the release of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in exchange for halting the planned attack. The menacing email also claimed that militants were already in position and ready to carry out their nefarious plans.
The email ominously stated, “We will blow up Narendra Modi and the Narendra Modi stadium as well if the government fails to pay us Rs 500 crore and release Lawrence Bishnoi. Everything sells in Hindustan, so we too have bought something. No matter how much you secure, you won’t be able to remain safe from us. If you wish to talk, do so on this email.”
In response to this alarming threat, authorities have initiated a swift and coordinated response. All relevant agencies have been alerted, and efforts are underway to trace the origin of the email. Preliminary investigations suggest that the email was sent from Europe, raising the possibility that it could be a hoax or a mischief orchestrated from a foreign location. However, security forces are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to apprehend the sender.
The safety measures surrounding all cricket matches, particularly those hosted at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, will be reevaluated and bolstered if deemed necessary to ensure the security of players, spectators, and officials.
This threat comes on the heels of a prior warning from Khalistani separatists who had declared their intention to turn the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 into a “World Terror Cup.” In response to this earlier threat, the Ahmedabad police’s cybercrime branch had registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the head of the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) organization.
Security at the Narendra Modi Stadium has been significantly intensified, with approximately 3,500 police personnel deployed during the opening match held on October 5. The safety and well-being of everyone involved in the tournament remain a top priority, and authorities are working tirelessly to ensure a secure environment throughout the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
