Security forces successfully neutralized three terrorists, including a high-profile commander, in a meticulously planned operation conducted in the Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operation, carried out on the night of September 25/26, was based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the general area of Tirah.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement confirming the operation’s success and the elimination of the terrorists. The exchange of fire between Pakistani troops and the terrorists was described as intense, ultimately resulting in the death of three militants. Among the slain terrorists was the notorious commander Kifayat, also known as Tor Adnan, who was actively involved in numerous terrorist activities, including attacks against law enforcement agencies and the targeting of innocent civilians.
Efforts are currently underway to sanitize the area and ensure the complete elimination of any remaining terrorists. The ISPR emphasized the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicating the menace of terrorism from the region.
This operation follows a series of recent counter-terrorism efforts by security forces across Pakistan. Tragically, during an exchange of fire in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a brave soldier lost his life on Saturday.
Just last week, security forces achieved significant success by eliminating eight terrorists in two separate Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) in the Jani Khel area of the Bannu district and the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan.
Pakistan has experienced an increase in terrorist activities in recent months, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan regions, following the termination of the ceasefire by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) with the government in November of the previous year.
A report released in July by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies revealed a concerning surge in terror and suicide attacks during the first half of the current year, resulting in the tragic loss of 389 lives across the country. Authorities remain vigilant and committed to ensuring the safety and security of the nation’s citizens in the face of these challenges.
