Popular short-video sharing platform TikTok announced today that it had removed over 10.4 million videos for violating its community guidelines during the second quarter of 2023. The company released its comprehensive community guidelines enforcement report for the period spanning from April to June, underscoring its commitment to combat misinformation and foster trust among its user community.
The report revealed that an impressive 83.6% of the violative videos in Pakistan were removed before any viewers could access them, and approximately 92.5% of these videos were eliminated within a day of posting. TikTok’s proactive removal rate for Q2 2023 reached an astonishing 98.6%, reflecting the platform’s dedication to swift action against policy violators.
Globally, TikTok took a stance on safeguarding young users by removing 18,823,040 accounts suspected to belong to individuals under the age of 13. This move highlights the platform’s commitment to prioritize the safety of its younger audience.
During the second quarter of 2023, TikTok reported that a total of 106,476,032 videos were removed globally, representing roughly 0.7% of all videos uploaded to the platform. Out of these, 66,440,775 videos were removed through automated systems, while 6,750,002 videos were later restored after manual review.
