The train services between Pakistan and Iran have been suspended due to heavy rains wreaking havoc in Dalbandin city of Balochistan, according to district administrations. The deluge submerged the railway track, leaving streets flooded and causing significant damage to homes in Dalbandin, the headquarters of the Chagai district.
Officials reported that the city, along with Sargisha and Chattar, experienced heavy rainfall on Sunday night, leading to the destruction of standing crops in rural areas. Additionally, several families were displaced as rainwater caused infrastructure damage.
In response, the district administration launched dewatering operations and began distributing tents and sheets to those displaced in various areas.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of a new westerly wind system entering the country today (Monday), which is expected to bring rain and snow to multiple parts of the nation over the next three days. Areas likely to be affected include upper Punjab, upper Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.
The Met Office has predicted rainfall in 28 districts of Balochistan until March 13. This forecast comes as the province is already grappling with the aftermath of earlier rains this month. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions and stay updated with weather advisories.
