The district administration of Dera Ghazi Khan has announced a complete ban on travel from Punjab to Balochistan during evening hours, starting from 5 PM daily. The decision was made in light of heightened security threats and recent violent incidents targeting travelers on routes leading into Balochistan.
Officials confirmed that the travel restriction will be enforced at key entry points, including Bawata and Sakhi Sarwar checkpoints. The ban applies to both public and private transport.
In addition to the evening travel ban, strict security measures have been introduced for daytime travel. These include mandatory video recording of drivers and passengers prior to departure, deployment of at least two armed security guards in each bus, installation of internal and external CCTV cameras, GPS tracking systems, and panic buttons in vehicles. Authorities have warned that non-compliance will result in strict legal action.
The new measures follow a string of deadly attacks on buses and commuters traveling from Punjab to Balochistan. In recent weeks, dozens of passengers have lost their lives in targeted shootings and abductions, prompting urgent government action to safeguard travelers.
The ban will remain in place until further notice, with local administrations directed to ensure full enforcement of the orders.
