Washington / Islamabad – 14 October 2025:
In a statement that caught both political analysts and social media users by surprise, former U.S. President Donald Trump referred to Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, as his “favourite Field Marshal.”
Speaking informally to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago residence, Trump commended Gen. Munir’s “discipline, decisiveness, and strength in regional affairs,” adding that he admired his “clear-headed approach to security challenges.”
The comment immediately went viral online, triggering a wave of mixed reactions in both Pakistan and the United States. Supporters praised the remark as a sign of growing respect for Pakistan’s military leadership, while critics viewed it as another instance of Trump’s unpredictable diplomacy.
Neither the Pakistan Army nor Trump’s campaign office have issued an official response to clarify the context of the comment.
