QUETTA, Balochistan – In a startling incident on Monday morning, two gas pipelines were blown up in Balochistan’s Dera Bugti district, leading to the suspension of gas supplies to the Zain Koh plant. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the attacks, according to Levies sources.
The pipeline attacks come on the heels of the recent kidnapping of several football players from the same district, raising concerns about security in the region.
The incident occurred on the same day when a Frontier Corps (FC) soldier lost his life in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Peshawar, adding to the security challenges faced by authorities.
According to Levies sources, unidentified miscreants targeted the pipelines using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the Zain Koh area. Following the attacks, Levies personnel and other law enforcement agencies swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation into the matter.
A senior security official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that gas supplies from both pipelines to the Zain Koh plant had been temporarily suspended due to the coordinated attacks. This disruption is expected to impact gas availability in the region, further underscoring the need for heightened security measures.
Authorities are actively pursuing the culprits responsible for these attacks, and efforts are being made to restore gas supplies to the affected area as quickly as possible. The situation remains tense as local residents and businesses brace for potential hardships caused by the disruption in gas supply.
