Two policemen were martyred and another injured in a targeted bomb blast in Kuchlak town, near Quetta, on Saturday. The attack, aimed at a police vehicle, took place when an explosive device planted earlier was detonated upon the arrival of the officials, according to local police.
Quetta’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Azhar Rashid confirmed that Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Zainuddin and gunman Mohammad Tahir lost their lives in the explosion. The driver, who was also injured, was immediately rushed to Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital for initial treatment before being shifted to a trauma center in Quetta for further care.
In response to the incident, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack, paying tribute to the martyred officers. He expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved families and emphasized the unyielding commitment of the Balochistan Police, levies, and security forces in the fight against terrorism.
“The eternal sacrifices of Balochistan Police and security forces against terrorism cannot be neglected,” Bugti said, vowing that the government would continue its fight until all terrorists and their facilitators are eliminated.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also paid his respects, offering heartfelt sympathies to the families of the fallen officers. He praised their sacrifices and assured that the entire country stands in solidarity with the security forces.
“This war is the entire country’s war, and with the people’s support, it will continue until the last terrorist and facilitator is eliminated,” Naqvi said in a statement, underscoring the nation’s resolve in its fight against terrorism.
The incident adds to a series of violent attacks targeting security personnel in the region, with law enforcement agencies intensifying operations to counter the ongoing threat of terrorism in Balochistan.
